The calculation is intentionally transparent: scheduled transports are multiplied by the expected no-show rate, then translated into reserved hours and optional value. It does not assume that every missed slot is fully wasted, because dispatchers may refill some openings or redeploy crews. What the result means

Given: 60 scheduled transports, an 8% no-show rate, 60 reserved minutes per trip, and $180 gross value per completed transport.

Calculation: Missed transports = 60 × 0.08 = 4.8. Expected completions = 60 − 4.8 = 55.2. Affected hours = 4.8 × 60 ÷ 60 = 4.8 hours. Potential gross value affected = 4.8 × $180 = $864.

Result: The schedule is expected to lose 4.8 transports, representing 4.8 reserved hours and $864 of gross value under the stated assumptions.

Why is the missed-transport result sometimes fractional?

The calculator reports an expected value. Over one day the actual count is a whole number, but over many similar days an average such as 4.8 is meaningful.

What no-show rate should I enter?

Use your own booking history for the same service type and period when possible. Rates can vary by population, trip purpose, reminder process, day, and scheduling lead time.

Does affected time equal wasted time?

Not necessarily. It is reserved time associated with expected no-shows; some or all of that time may be recovered through rebooking, standby work, or dispatch reassignment.

Should cancellations be included as no-shows?

Only if your operational definition treats them the same way. For cleaner analysis, use a rate that matches how your organization classifies no-shows versus advance cancellations.
