The Contact Center Data Usage Calculator estimates how much network data a contact center can transfer from simultaneous sessions over a selected operating period. It helps network and telecom teams translate per-session bandwidth into daily or monthly traffic volumes for connectivity, usage-based services, or capacity reviews.

The calculator multiplies active sessions by average bandwidth and active time, then converts the total from bits to gigabytes. An optional overhead percentage can represent protocol, signaling, encryption, or other traffic not captured in the base session rate. Because real contact center traffic changes with call mix, idle time, screen activity, and codec behavior, the result should be treated as a workload estimate.

1. Enter session count

Use the average number of sessions active at the same time during the period you want to model.

2. Enter session bandwidth

Provide the average kilobits per second consumed by one active session.

3. Set active time

Enter the average active hours per operating day and the number of operating days in the period.

4. Add overhead

Assumptions: The calculation uses decimal network units, where 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes, and assumes the entered average bandwidth persists during all modeled active hours.

Is this result per day or for the whole period?

The main result covers all operating days entered. Set Days to 1 when you want a single-day estimate.

Should idle agents be included as simultaneous sessions?

Only include them if their idle state generates the bandwidth represented by your per-session input. Otherwise use the average number of actively consuming sessions.

What does traffic overhead represent?

It can represent protocol, signaling, encryption, retransmission, monitoring, or other traffic omitted from the base session rate. Use measured overhead when available instead of a generic percentage.

Why does bandwidth convert to data usage?

Bandwidth is a rate, while data usage is the amount transferred over time. Multiplying the rate by active seconds and converting bits to bytes produces the estimated volume.

Does this calculate cloud contact-center subscription charges?

Not directly. It estimates network data volume only. Subscription pricing may depend on seats, minutes, features, telephony rates, storage, or vendor-specific metering.
