- Enter daily calories.
- Set carbohydrate percentage.
- Set protein percentage.
- Set fat percentage. The three values must total 100%.
- Review grams per day.
Daily Macro Calculator
Calculate daily grams of carbohydrate, protein, and fat from a calorie target and selected macro percentages. The tool also checks whether the percentages total 100% and displays calories contributed by each macronutrient.
Macro ratios are planning choices, not universal prescriptions. Food quality, fiber, micronutrients, medical needs, training, and personal preference remain important even when the percentages add up correctly.
Daily inputs
Protein grams = calories × protein % ÷ 4
Fat grams = calories × fat % ÷ 9
Carbohydrate and protein are calculated at 4 kcal per gram, and fat at 9 kcal per gram.
What the result means
The result converts a calorie-and-percentage plan into daily gram targets.
Alcohol and fiber treatment can make real food-label calories differ slightly from the simplified macro calculation.
Given: 2,200 kcal with 45% carbohydrate, 25% protein, 30% fat.
Calculation: Carbs = 2,200×0.45÷4 = 247.5 g; protein = 137.5 g; fat = 73.3 g.
Result: About 248 g carbs, 138 g protein, and 73 g fat.
Why must percentages total 100%?
The tool allocates the entire calorie target among carbohydrate, protein, and fat.
Why is fat divided by 9?
Fat provides about 9 kilocalories per gram, compared with about 4 for carbohydrate and protein.
Do net carbs change the result?
This calculator uses total carbohydrate and does not separately model fiber or sugar alcohols.
Are macro percentages the same as grams?
No. Percentages refer to calorie share, so the gram amounts differ because fat is more energy dense.
Should medical conditions affect macro choices?
Yes. Diabetes, kidney disease, digestive conditions, pregnancy, and other circumstances may require individualized guidance.
