By separating the total target reduction from reductions already achieved, the tool shows how much additional progress is still needed and the average annual reduction required over the time remaining.

The calculation is deliberately target-focused. It does not prescribe efficiency measures, renewable-energy purchases, cooling strategies, equipment upgrades, or a target-setting standard. Those choices depend on the facility, accounting boundary, and commitment framework. Use a baseline and achieved reductions that are measured on a consistent basis. Does the annual reduction value compound?

No. It is the remaining absolute reduction divided evenly across the years left. It is a planning pace, not a compounded percentage path.

Can I use this for a multi-site data center portfolio?
