The Exam Course Calculator estimates a course result when exams make up part of the final grade. It combines your current non-exam average, the exam score, and the percentage weight assigned to exams.

Students can use it to understand how strongly the exam component changes the course outcome. It also displays the weighted contribution of each component so you can verify the calculation against a syllabus. The estimate applies only when the entered weights and scores match the course grading policy.

A 100% total gives the direct final-grade estimate; other totals are normalized across the entered components.

The calculator normalizes the result when the entered weights do not total 100%. It does not include omitted components unless their values are incorporated into the coursework average.

What the result means

The stronger coursework average offsets part of the lower exam average.

Results are planning estimates and should be checked against the grading or scheduling rules that apply to your course.

Calculation:
Coursework contribution = 82 × 0.60 = 49.2
Exam contribution = 76 × 0.40 = 30.4
Course grade = 49.2 + 30.4 = 79.6%

Result:
79.60% estimated course grade

What happens if the weights do not total 100%?

The calculator normalizes the entered components by their combined weight. This is useful for partial projections but may not equal the official final grade if components are missing.

How do I combine several exam scores?

Calculate their weighted average first when exams have different weights. A simple average is appropriate only when all exams count equally.

Can I use points instead of percentages?

Convert each component to a percentage before entering it. Raw points with different maximums should not be mixed directly.

Does the calculator apply letter-grade cutoffs?

No. It returns a percentage estimate; map that value to the grading scale published by your school.

How is this different from an exam score estimator?

This calculator combines exam and coursework components into a course result. A score estimator usually focuses on one assessment outcome or required score.
