Facebook Follower Calculator

The Facebook Follower Calculator measures net follower change and expresses it as a percentage of the audience at the start of a period. It gives page owners a normalized way to compare growth across months, campaigns, or pages that begin at different sizes.

The calculation uses opening and closing totals, so it captures the net effect of follows and unfollows rather than gross new follows. A positive rate shows that the ending audience is larger; a negative rate indicates contraction. Use the result as an audience trend measure, then examine acquisition sources, content performance, paid promotion, and unfollow behavior to understand what produced the change.

Net follower change = Ending followers − Starting followers
Follower growth rate (%) = Net follower change ÷ Starting followers × 100

The starting count must be greater than zero. This net method does not reveal separate gross follows and unfollows.

What the result means

The primary result reports follower growth rate from the values entered above. Supporting rows show useful components or equivalent rates.

Use inputs from one consistent reporting scope. Platform definitions, attribution settings, rounding, and incomplete tracking can affect comparisons.

Given: 84,500 starting followers and 91,260 ending followers.

Calculation: Net change = 91,260 − 84,500 = 6,760. Growth rate = 6,760 ÷ 84,500 × 100 = 8.00%.

Result: The page’s follower base grew by 6,760, or 8.00%, during the period.

Does net change equal new followers gained?

Not necessarily. Ending minus starting followers nets new follows against unfollows and removals.

What if the ending count is lower?

The calculator returns a negative change and rate, indicating net audience contraction.

Can I compare a week with a month?

You can calculate both, but their rates are not directly comparable without adjusting for period length and context.

Why must starting followers be above zero?

The percentage uses the opening audience as its denominator. A zero starting base makes the growth rate undefined.

Is follower growth the same as reach growth?

No. Followers are the page audience; reach counts people who received content during a particular scope.
