Facebook Impression Calculator

The Facebook Impression Calculator estimates total content displays from unique reach and average frequency. It is useful for scenario planning or for reconstructing an approximate impression total when delivery reports provide the two component metrics.

Reach counts distinct people, while frequency represents average displays per reached person. Multiplying them gives impressions, including repeat exposures. Because platform values may be rounded, the estimate can differ slightly from the reported impression total. The additional repeat-display figure helps separate the first potential exposure to each reached person from subsequent delivery, which can support budget and creative-rotation discussions.

Estimated impressions = Unique reach × Average frequency
Estimated repeat displays = Estimated impressions − Unique reach

Frequency must be at least 1 because each reached person must account for at least one impression. The output may be fractional before display rounding.

What the result means

The primary result reports estimated impressions from the values entered above. Supporting rows show useful components or equivalent rates.

Use inputs from one consistent reporting scope. Platform definitions, attribution settings, rounding, and incomplete tracking can affect comparisons.

Given: Unique reach = 95,000 and average frequency = 2.8.

Calculation: Impressions = 95,000 × 2.8 = 266,000. Repeat displays = 266,000 − 95,000 = 171,000.

Result: Delivery is estimated at 266,000 impressions, including roughly 171,000 exposures beyond the first per reached person.

Why is this an estimate?

Facebook may display rounded reach or frequency values. Multiplying rounded inputs can differ from the platform’s underlying impression count.

Can frequency be below one?

Not for impressions divided by reached people: every reached person must have at least one recorded impression.

Are repeat displays unique repeat viewers?

No. They are impression volume beyond one display per reached person, not a deduplicated count of people with repeat exposure.

Should organic and paid values be added?

Only if the reporting definitions and deduplication method support that combination. Unique reach generally cannot be safely summed across overlapping audiences.

How can I get frequency from impressions?

Divide impressions by unique reach. The related frequency calculator performs that inverse calculation.
