Pet Subscription Calculator

The Pet Subscription Calculator totals the recurring cost of pet-related subscriptions and shows the effective monthly, annual, and multi-year commitment. It can be used for food delivery, litter plans, preventive care memberships, toy boxes, insurance add-ons, tracking services, training apps, or any combination of recurring charges.

By including billing frequency, discounts, tax, and a one-time setup fee, the calculator makes plans with different payment structures easier to compare on the same basis. It does not evaluate coverage quality or cancellation terms, so review the underlying agreement before subscribing.

1. Enter the cycle price
Use the amount charged before recurring discounts and tax.

2. Set annual billing cycles
Use 12 for monthly, 4 for quarterly, 2 for semiannual, or 1 for annual billing.

3. Add discounts and tax
Enter percentage adjustments that apply to recurring charges.

4. Include setup costs
Add enrollment, device, or initial delivery fees charged once.

5. Choose the comparison period
Use the same number of years when comparing multiple plans.

6. Review normalized costs
Use average monthly and recurring annual costs for direct comparisons.

Gross annual cost = Cycle price × Cycles per year
Recurring annual cost = Gross annual cost × (1 − Discount rate) × (1 + Tax rate)
Total period cost = Recurring annual cost × Years + Setup fee
Average monthly cost = Total period cost ÷ (Years × 12)

What the result means

The main result spreads all included recurring and one-time charges across the selected period.

Price increases, usage overages, cancellation fees, and coverage limits are not included unless added to the inputs.

Given: $45 monthly, 10% discount, 5% tax, $30 setup fee, and 2 years.

Calculation: Gross annual = $45 × 12 = $540. Recurring annual = $540 × 0.90 × 1.05 = $510.30. Total = $510.30 × 2 + $30 = $1,050.60.

Result: Average monthly cost is $43.78.

How do I enter a plan billed every eight weeks?

Use 6.5 cycles per year only if fractional cycles are accepted by your comparison. This page requires whole cycles, so use the actual charges expected in the selected year or compare over a longer period.

Should tax be applied before or after the discount?

This model applies the discount first and tax second. Actual billing rules can differ, so match the invoice when precision matters.

Does the monthly result equal the monthly invoice?

Not necessarily. It is a normalized average that can include annual billing and one-time fees.

How can I compare a free trial?

Subtract the free cycles from the first-period cost manually or reduce the setup fee with a negative value is not allowed. For a clean comparison, enter the actual paid cycle count as the annual cycles when appropriate.

What costs are commonly missed?

Shipping, add-on products, price increases, deductible amounts, cancellation fees, and unused deliveries are outside the basic subscription total.
