Quarterly Dividend Calculator

The Quarterly Dividend Calculator estimates the cash dividend generated during a three-month reporting period. Enter the number of shares you own, the dividend paid per share for the quarter, and any applicable withholding rate to see both gross and estimated net proceeds.

This is useful when checking a brokerage statement, comparing dividend-paying holdings, or planning near-term cash flow. The result reflects the declared quarterly dividend you enter; it does not predict future declarations, reinvestment growth, or changes in share count.

1. Enter the share count
Use the number of shares eligible for the dividend record date.

2. Add the quarterly dividend per share
Enter the declared payment for one share, not the annual dividend.

3. Set withholding
Use the percentage expected to be withheld; enter 0 when none applies.

4. Review the result
Compare net cash, gross payment, withholding, and the simple annualized amount.

Gross quarterly dividend = Shares owned × Dividend per share Estimated withholding = Gross dividend × Withholding rate Net quarterly dividend = Gross dividend − Estimated withholding

The annualized figure multiplies the entered quarterly dividend by four. It assumes the same share count and dividend per share for all four quarters.

What the result means

The main result is the estimated cash remaining after the withholding percentage you entered.

Actual tax treatment and dividend declarations can differ by account type, issuer, and jurisdiction.

Given: 250 shares, a $0.65 quarterly dividend per share, and 15% withholding.

Calculation: Gross dividend = 250 × $0.65 = $162.50. Withholding = $162.50 × 15% = $24.38. Net dividend = $162.50 − $24.38 = $138.12.

Result: Estimated net quarterly dividend: $138.12. At the same dividend rate, gross annual dividends would be $650.00.

Should I enter the annual dividend rate?

No. Enter the dividend paid per share for one quarter. If only an annual figure is available, divide it by four only when payments are evenly distributed.

Does this include dividend reinvestment?

No. The calculator reports cash generated for the current share count. Reinvested shares and compounding require a dividend reinvestment model.

Why is the annualized value only an estimate?

Companies can raise, reduce, suspend, or vary dividends. Multiplying by four assumes the entered quarterly payment repeats unchanged.

Can I use this for multiple holdings?

Calculate each holding separately or combine only when all holdings use the same dividend-per-share value and withholding rate.

Is withholding the same as final tax owed?

Not necessarily. Withholding is an amount deducted at payment, while final tax depends on account type and applicable tax rules.
