Percentages are converted to decimals. The result is rounded up for the main workday estimate because partial final days still require calendar space.

What the result means

The main result is the number of working days to reserve under the entered productivity and risk assumptions.

Convert workdays to a calendar deadline separately if weekends, holidays, or part-time schedules matter.

Given: 42 estimated hours, 5 focus hours per day, 80% efficiency, 10% rework, and a 15% schedule buffer.

Calculation: Adjusted hours = 42 × 1.10 = 46.2. Effective daily capacity = 5 × 0.80 = 4 hours. Base days = 46.2 ÷ 4 = 11.55. Planned days = 11.55 × 1.15 = 13.28.

Result: Reserve 14 working days.

Interpretation: A nominal 8.4-day estimate becomes a more realistic 14-day plan after productivity and uncertainty are included.

Why are workdays rounded up?

A project that needs 13.2 days still extends into a fourteenth workday. Rounding up avoids presenting an incomplete day as a finished schedule.

What is the difference between rework and buffer?

Rework increases the labor hours expected. Buffer adds calendar protection for uncertainty without assuming all of that time becomes active work.

Should meetings reduce daily focus time?

Yes. Enter only the project-focused hours available after meetings and routine duties.

Can I enter efficiency above 100%?

No. Efficiency represents the usable share of stated focus time and is limited to 100%.

Does this calculate an exact date?

No. It calculates working days required. Add those days to your start date while accounting for weekends, holidays, and planned leave.
