  1. Enter the plan price

Use the amount collected per successful billing event.

  2. Enter monthly payments

Count successful subscription charges, not total active accounts if billing intervals differ.

  3. Add the percentage fee

Enter the processor or marketplace percentage charged on revenue.

  4. Add fixed and platform fees

Include the per-payment charge and recurring monthly account fee.

  5. Review total and net revenue

Use the effective rate to compare fee structures at your expected volume.

Gross revenue = Subscription price × Successful payments
Total fees = (Gross revenue × Percentage fee) + (Payments × Fixed fee) + Platform fee
Net revenue = Gross revenue − Total fees

The model assumes one payment at the entered price for every successful transaction and excludes taxes, refunds, chargebacks, and currency conversion.

What the result means

The result is the estimated total fee expense for one month at the entered payment volume.

Provider pricing can include tiers, minimums, international surcharges, or separate tax fees that require additional adjustments.

Given

A service collects 1,200 monthly payments of $29. Fees are 2.9% plus $0.30 per payment and a $99 platform fee.

Calculation

Gross revenue = $29 × 1,200 = $34,800.
Fees = ($34,800 × 0.029) + (1,200 × $0.30) + $99 = $1,468.20.

Result

Estimated monthly fees are $1,468.20, leaving $33,331.80 before other costs.

Does the result include failed-payment fees?

No. Enter only successful payments. Add expected retry or failure charges to the monthly platform fee if your provider bills them separately.

How do annual subscriptions fit this model?

Use the annual price and the number of annual charges processed during the month. Do not divide the price by 12 unless the customer is actually billed monthly.

Are refunds deducted?

No. This model estimates processing fees on successful charges. Refund costs and returned revenue should be analyzed separately.

Why does the fixed fee matter more for cheap plans?

A fixed charge consumes a larger share of a low transaction amount, increasing the effective fee rate.

Can I compare two processors?

Yes. Run the calculator once for each fee schedule at the same price and payment volume.
