- Gather interaction counts. Enter likes, comments, shares, and saves for the same video or group of videos.
- Add matching views. Use the view count from the identical scope and reporting snapshot.
- Review total engagements. The calculator sums the four interaction types.
- Read the views-based rate. The headline result shows engagements as a percentage of views.
- Compare like with like. Use the same included interaction types for every post or campaign.
TikTok Engagement Calculator
The TikTok Engagement Calculator estimates engagement as a percentage of views using likes, comments, shares, and saves. It combines visible interaction counts into one total and relates that total to the audience exposure measured by video views.
Use it to compare posts with very different view counts or to summarize a campaign’s interaction intensity. Because platforms and analysts use several engagement-rate denominators, the calculator clearly applies a views-based method rather than a follower-based or reach-based method.

Total engagements = Likes + Comments + Shares + Saves
Engagement rate by views (%) = Total engagements ÷ Views × 100
This model treats each counted interaction equally and allows multiple engagements from the same viewer. It is therefore an interaction-to-view ratio, not the percentage of unique viewers who engaged.
What the result means
The rate shows the number of counted engagements for every 100 video views.
Different reporting systems may exclude saves or use followers, reach, or unique viewers as the denominator.
Given: 18,400 likes, 620 comments, 1,450 shares, 830 saves, and 520,000 views.
Calculation: Total engagements = 18,400 + 620 + 1,450 + 830 = 21,300. Engagement rate = 21,300 ÷ 520,000 × 100 = 4.0962%.
Result: The views-based engagement rate is 4.10%.
This equals about 41 engagements per 1,000 views.
Can one viewer create several engagements?
Yes. A person may like, comment, share, and save, so the numerator is an interaction count rather than a unique-person count.
Should saves be included?
Include saves when the metric is available and use that choice consistently. Excluding saves will produce a lower but still valid rate under a different definition.
Can the result exceed 100%?
It can in unusual cases because multiple interactions may be generated per view and view definitions may differ. A result above 100% should prompt a tracking-scope check.
Why not divide by followers?
A follower-based rate answers how engagement compares with account audience size. The views-based rate focuses on the exposure each video actually received.
Can I combine several videos?
Yes. Sum each interaction type and views across the exact same set of videos before calculating the campaign-level rate.
