Can I enter number of windows as the quantity?

Only if your waste rate is defined in window units, which is uncommon. For most planning, use a material quantity such as linear feet, square feet, pieces, or pounds.

Should broken old windows be included?

This estimator is primarily for new installation material. Demolition debris from removed windows is better estimated separately because it follows a different quantity and disposal pattern.

How is recoverable waste different from usable installed material?

Usable installed material never becomes waste. Recoverable waste is material initially classified as waste but later diverted through reuse, return, salvage, or recycling.

Can the waste rate exceed the extra material I ordered?

Yes, if the order is too small relative to actual cutting or damage. The calculator does not determine whether your purchase quantity is sufficient for the installation scope.
