What the result means

The headline percentage is the number of recorded interactions divided by total video views.

The rate can include multiple actions by one viewer and does not represent unique engaged viewers.

Given: 120,000 views, 5,400 likes, 410 comments, 620 shares, and 120 other engagements.

Calculation: Total engagements = 6,550. Rate = 6,550 ÷ 120,000 × 100 = 5.46%.

Result: The video produced 3.42 comments and 5.17 shares per 1,000 views.

Can one viewer create multiple engagements?

Yes. A viewer may like, comment, and share, so this is an action rate rather than a unique-person rate.

Should dislikes be included?

Include them only if your analysis defines them as engagement and the data is available consistently.

Why compare comments and shares separately?

They often require more effort than a like and can reveal different types of audience response.

Can older and newer videos be compared?

Use the same age window after publication when possible, because engagement accumulates over time.

How is this different from watch time?

Engagement measures explicit interactions; watch time measures viewing depth and duration.
