Days remaining = next birthday date − reference date. If this year’s birthday has passed, the next birthday is placed in the following year.

What the result means

The result counts whole calendar days from the reference date to the next birthday.

A birthday on February 29 may be observed differently in non-leap years depending on personal or legal convention.

Given: birth date December 15, 1990, and reference date August 5, 2026. The next birthday is December 15, 2026. Counting the calendar difference gives 132 days. Result: 132 days remain, and the person turns 36.

Does today count as one day remaining?

No. When the birthday is today, the result is zero days.

Can I use a date other than today?

Yes. Change the reference date to plan from any valid date after the birth date.

How are leap-year birthdays handled?

JavaScript date rules may roll February 29 to March 1 in a non-leap year. Local convention may differ.

Why is age shown for the next birthday?

It is calculated from the next birthday year minus the birth year.

Does time of day affect the result?

No. The calculator uses date-only values at local midnight.
