Weighted share = monthly bill × your usage weight ÷ total household weight. Equal share = monthly bill ÷ number of people.

What the result means

The main result applies the entered usage weights; the equal-share result is shown for comparison.

Weights are a budgeting agreement, not a precise measurement of network use.

Given: a $90 monthly bill, three people, and equal weights of 1 each. Calculation: $90 × 1 ÷ 3 = $30. Result: each person pays $30 per month, or $360 per year.

What does a usage weight mean?

It is a relative share. A weight of 2 is treated as twice a weight of 1.

Do the weights need to add to the number of people?

No. They only need to add to the total household weight entered.

How do I split the bill equally?

Give every person the same weight and set total weight to the sum of those weights.

Should equipment rental be included?

Include any recurring modem, router, or service fees that the household intends to share.

What about a roommate who moves midmonth?

Prorate that person’s share by the fraction of the billing period they occupied the home.
