Current quiz average = Earned quiz points ÷ Possible quiz points × 100
Updated quiz average = (Earned points + Next score) ÷ (Possible points + Next quiz maximum) × 100
Needed next score = Target % × New possible points − Earned points
Point aggregation correctly weights a 20-point quiz differently from a 100-point quiz. If the course gives every quiz equal weight regardless of points, average the individual quiz percentages instead.
The main result is the quiz average after adding the expected next score.
Dropped quizzes, bonus points, and category weighting are not included unless you adjust the totals first.
Given: 168 points earned out of 200, a 25-point quiz, an expected score of 22, and an 85% target.
Calculation: Current average = 168 ÷ 200 × 100 = 84%. Updated average = (168 + 22) ÷ (200 + 25) × 100 = 84.44%. Needed score = 0.85 × 225 − 168 = 23.25 points.
Result: A score of 22 produces an 84.44% quiz average; at least 23.25 points would be needed to reach 85% exactly.
