Actual process results can differ because of downtime, product mix, measurement methods, operating conditions, and quality rules.

Given:

Productive run time = 420 min

Calculation:
Run time = 420 ÷ 60 = 7 hr; throughput = 52,500 ÷ 7 = 7,500 m/hr; output per minute = 125 m/min; cycle time = 420 ÷ 52,500 = 0.008 min/m.

Result:
7,500 units per hour

Using meters as the output unit, the process averages 7,500 meters per productive hour.

Should I use scheduled time or run time?

Use productive run time for operating throughput. Use scheduled time only when you intentionally want a schedule-level effective rate that includes downtime.

Can this estimate capacity?

It can represent observed capacity under the measured conditions. It is not automatically the maximum sustainable capacity of the equipment.

How do I compare throughput with takt time?

Convert takt to a required rate using 60 divided by takt minutes per unit, then compare both rates using the same output unit.

Why does throughput change when I choose a different time window?

Startups, slowdowns, product changes, and operating conditions can vary over time, so the average depends on the selected window.

Does this calculator account for yield loss?

No. Enter good output if you want good-throughput rate, or total output if you want gross process throughput.
