Formula:

What the result means

The result represents how much DNA mass is present per microliter of the entered solution.

It is a concentration arithmetic result, not a measurement method; accuracy depends entirely on the mass and volume values supplied.

Given: A tube contains 1,260 ng of DNA in 42 µL.

Calculation:
Concentration = 1,260 ÷ 42 = 30 ng/µL.
Equivalent concentration = 30 µg/mL.

Why is ng/µL numerically equal to µg/mL?

Both the mass and volume scale by 1,000 in the conversion, so the numeric value remains unchanged.

Can I enter a zero DNA mass?

Yes. A zero mass in a positive volume gives a concentration of 0 ng/µL.

Why can volume not be zero?

Concentration is mass divided by volume, and division by zero is undefined.

Does this use absorbance or A260 values?

No. It does not convert spectrophotometer readings; it only divides an already known DNA mass by a known solution volume.

How is this different from a dilution calculator?
