Calculation:

Total walks = 14 × 1 = 14
Walking hours = 14 × 35 ÷ 60 = 8.17 hours
Travel/handoff hours = 14 × 10 ÷ 60 = 2.33 hours
Total service hours = 8.17 + 2.33 = 10.50 hours

Result: 10.5 service hours

A single worker could not fit that workload into a shorter workday without route efficiencies, group walking, schedule changes, or additional staffing.

Does the estimate assume every dog is walked separately?

The walk count does, but you can adapt the average time inputs if dogs are safely and appropriately walked in groups. Avoid double-counting time saved by grouping.

Why is travel time entered per dog instead of per walk?

This version treats access and handoff as a per-client-service allowance. If multiple walks require repeated travel, increase the average travel input to reflect the actual pattern.

Can I use zero travel minutes?

Yes for a tightly clustered or on-site scenario where travel and handoff time is negligible. The result will then consist only of walking time.

Is total service time the same as paid shift hours?

Not necessarily. Paid time may also include breaks, administration, vehicle preparation, scheduling, cleanup, and other non-service tasks.
