The Pet Daycare Daily Requirements Estimator turns an expected daily attendance count into practical operating quantities for pet daycare. It estimates staff care hours, meal or snack servings, water volume, and cleaning-supply units from per-pet assumptions, giving managers a quick way to prepare a normal service day.

Because daycare models vary widely, every per-pet rate in the calculator is editable. The output is therefore a planning estimate rather than a universal care standard. Facilities should substitute their own feeding policies, sanitation procedures, staff plans, veterinarian instructions, and local requirements when they differ from the example defaults.

Given:

Calculation:

Staff hours = 42 × 24 ÷ 60 = 16.8 hours
Food = 42 × 0.75 = 31.5 servings
Water = 42 × 1.6 = 67.2 L
Cleaning supplies = 42 × 0.35 = 14.7 units

Result: 16.8 direct care staff-hours

The attendance assumption generates the listed daily supply quantities. Shift coverage may require additional time for opening, closing, breaks, reception, or transportation.

Are the default per-pet quantities recommended care standards?

No. They are editable examples for planning. Replace them with your facility’s procedures and the needs of the animals in your care.

Can I set food servings to zero?

Yes. Enter 0 if owners provide food or the facility does not serve meals during the daycare period. The other requirement totals will still calculate.

What is a cleaning supply unit?

It is a facility-defined planning unit, such as one measured portion, kit, or normalized supply allowance. Use a consistent internal unit so the total is meaningful for your inventory process.

Does staff hours equal the number of employees needed?

Not directly. It is total direct care labor time. Converting that total into headcount also requires shift length, breaks, opening hours, supervision, and task overlap.

How should special-needs pets be handled?

Model their additional time or supplies by increasing the per-pet assumptions or planning them separately. Individual medical or behavioral instructions should not be averaged away.
