What the result means

The main result is the additional tCO2e reduction needed to reach the selected percentage target from the stated baseline.

If achieved reductions exceed the calculated target, remaining reduction is shown as zero; that does not automatically redefine the target or baseline.

Should the baseline and achieved reduction use the same event type?

They should use a consistent boundary and basis. Comparing a full multi-day baseline with a smaller or differently scoped event can make progress misleading.

What happens if achieved reduction exceeds the target?

The remaining reduction is shown as zero and progress is capped at 100%. The calculator does not automatically create a more ambitious target.

Can the target be 100%?

The field allows 100%, which mathematically sets target emissions to zero. Whether that is feasible or appropriate depends on the event boundary and strategy.

Should offsets count as achieved reduction?

This calculator is structured for emissions reduction against a baseline. If your accounting framework treats offsets separately, do not enter purchased offsets as direct reduction.

How can the remaining-reduction result be used?

It can be allocated across travel, venue energy, catering, materials, waste, or other event workstreams to build a more detailed action plan.
