Assumptions: All entered areas use square feet. The model assumes each package has the same stated coverage and does not perform room-by-room cut optimization.

What the result means

Use the main result as a planning estimate based on the values entered above. Recalculate whenever project scope, unit costs, productivity, or savings assumptions change.

Actual project requirements can differ because of site conditions, product specifications, workmanship, local pricing, and supplier packaging.

Given:

• 1,020 sq ft measured area
• 8% waste allowance
• 22.8 sq ft per box

Calculation:
Waste area = 1,020 × 0.08 = 81.6 sq ft
Required coverage = 1,020 + 81.6 = 1,101.6 sq ft
Packages = round up(1,101.6 ÷ 22.8) = round up(48.32) = 49 boxes
Purchased coverage = 49 × 22.8 = 1,117.2 sq ft

Result: 49 boxes.

Interpretation: The package rounding provides 1,117.2 square feet of nominal coverage, which is 15.6 square feet above the percentage-adjusted requirement.
