Given: 45 kWh added to the battery, $0.18/kWh electricity, 90% efficiency, no fixed fee, and 12 sessions per month.

Calculation: Grid energy = 45 ÷ 0.90 = 50 kWh. Session cost = 50 × $0.18 = $9.00. Monthly cost = $9.00 × 12 = $108.00.

Result: Estimated cost is $9.00 per session and $108.00 per month.

Which electricity rate should I enter?

Use the marginal rate that applies while charging, including variable energy charges when possible.

Why is grid energy higher than battery energy?

Charging equipment and the battery lose some energy as heat, so more electricity is drawn from the wall than reaches the battery.

How do time-of-use rates affect the result?

Should solar charging be entered as free?
