Hydroponic Nutrient Yield Forecast Estimator

The Hydroponic Nutrient Yield Forecast Estimator projects marketable harvest from plant sites, expected marketable yield per plant, crop cycles, and crop success rate. It is a compact planning model for growers estimating annual production capacity, comparing planting densities, or converting a crop-level yield assumption into a system-wide output target.

The calculator first determines the theoretical harvest if every planted site completes every planned cycle at the baseline yield. It then applies the success rate to account for failed sites, missed cycles, quality losses, or other reductions that you choose to summarize in one percentage. This keeps the forecast easy to audit while avoiding unsupported biological assumptions. The baseline yield per plant should come from your own records, trials, cultivar information, or another appropriate source for the crop and system because hydroponic yield varies with environment, spacing, cultivar, crop duration, and harvest standard.

What the result means

The result is the annual marketable crop weight implied by the entered planting capacity, crop yield, cycle count, and success rate.

This is a capacity forecast. It does not model crop growth, environmental response, price, or time-varying yields within the year.

Given: 1,500 plant sites, 0.28 kg per plant, 10 cycles/year, and a 93% success rate.

Calculation: Theoretical harvest = 1,500 × 0.28 × 10 = 4,200 kg. Marketable harvest = 4,200 × 0.93 = 3,906 kg. Successful plant-cycles = 1,500 × 10 × 0.93 = 13,950.

Result: Forecast marketable harvest: 3,906 kg/year.

The same assumptions imply about 390.6 kg per crop cycle on average.

What should I use for yield per plant?

Use a marketable weight that matches the crop, cultivar, spacing, and harvest stage you intend to grow. Your own recent crop records are usually more comparable than a generic benchmark.

Does success rate duplicate marketable yield?

It can if your per-plant yield already averages failed plants and rejects. In that case, use 100% success or redefine the baseline so the two inputs do not count the same loss twice.

Can I forecast less than one year?

The interface uses cycles per year, but you can convert a shorter plan to the equivalent number of cycles in that period and interpret the result for that period rather than as an annual figure.

Why is monthly harvest shown as an average?

The calculator divides annual output by 12. Actual harvest timing can be uneven because crop cycles and batch scheduling may cluster production.

How does this differ from a water-needs estimator?

Yield forecasting estimates crop output. Water-needs estimation calculates replacement water required to support a selected production scenario.
