What should count as “feed” for an orchard?

There is no standard orchard feed measure. Use one clearly defined production input and keep that definition consistent; do not combine unrelated materials unless that combined mass is the metric you intentionally want to track.

Can I compare two orchards with this ratio?

Yes, but only cautiously. Crop variety, tree age, soil, climate, management, and input composition can all differ, so the ratio is most useful when the comparison basis is closely matched.

What happens if the input mass is zero?

The input-to-yield ratio becomes zero, while the inverse yield-per-input ratio cannot be meaningfully calculated. The calculator reports that inverse value as not applicable.

Should cull fruit be included in harvest mass?

Use marketable harvest if your goal is marketable production efficiency. If you prefer total biological yield, use that basis consistently across every comparison.

Is a lower input-to-yield ratio always better?
