The Pallet Loading Utilization Calculator measures how much of the available pallet positions are actually occupied. It is designed for quick loading-plan checks where capacity is expressed as a count of pallet positions rather than by cubic volume or weight.

Distribution centers and transport teams can use the percentage to compare loads, identify underfilled equipment, and track how closely actual pallet counts match planned position capacity. Because utilization by pallet position does not capture weight distribution, pallet height, overhang, or legal payload limits, it should be read as one capacity view rather than a complete loading assessment.

What the result means

The result is the share of available pallet positions occupied by the entered load. A value of 100% means all listed positions are filled.

Position utilization does not confirm that the load satisfies weight, axle, stacking, dimensional, or cargo-securing requirements.

Given:
Loaded positions = 22; available positions = 26.

Calculation:
22 ÷ 26 × 100 = 84.615...%.

Result:
84.62% utilization.

Interpretation:
About 84.6% of the pallet positions are occupied, leaving 4 positions unused.

Can utilization exceed 100%?

Not in this position-count model. If the loaded count exceeds available positions, recheck the capacity definition or use a different model for stacked or mixed configurations.

Does one double-stacked pallet count as two positions?

Use the position convention used in your plan. The numerator and denominator must follow the same convention for the percentage to be meaningful.

Is a high percentage always better?

Not necessarily. Weight balance, service commitments, route sequence, damage risk, and handling constraints may justify unused positions.

Can I use floor spots instead of pallet positions?

Yes, provided both inputs use the same floor-spot definition.

How is this different from a capacity estimator?

A capacity estimator estimates how many units can fit. This calculator compares actual loaded positions with an already defined capacity.
