SEO Reach Calculator

The SEO Reach Calculator estimates the number of unique searchers exposed to an organic result when total impressions and average frequency are known. Reach is not normally reported as precisely as impressions in SEO tools, so this calculator provides a planning estimate rather than a direct platform metric.

Use it when the same audience may see a result more than once during a reporting period. By dividing impressions by average impressions per person, the tool estimates unique reach and shows how often each reached person was exposed. It can support awareness planning, but actual uniqueness depends on the platform’s identity resolution, device behavior, location, and privacy rules.

1. Enter total impressions
Use the number of times the organic result appeared during the selected period.

2. Estimate frequency
Provide the average number of impressions per reached person.

3. Add a reach target
Enter the desired number of unique people for the same period.

4. Review estimated reach
The result divides impression volume by average frequency.

5. Treat it as a scenario
Test different frequency assumptions because SEO platforms may not provide a verified unique reach figure.

Estimated Unique Reach = Organic Impressions ÷ Average Frequency Impressions Needed = Target Reach × Average Frequency

Average frequency means the estimated number of impressions per unique reached person. The formula assumes frequency is representative across the audience. It cannot identify users across devices or browsers and should not be treated as an audited unique-user count.

What the result means

Estimated reach approximates how many distinct people may have seen the result. A lower frequency produces higher estimated reach from the same impression total.

Use a plausible frequency range and report the assumption alongside the result, especially when no search platform provides person-level reach.

Given: 120,000 organic impressions, average frequency of 1.6, and target reach of 90,000 people.

Calculation:
Estimated reach = 120,000 ÷ 1.6 = 75,000 people
Impressions needed = 90,000 × 1.6 = 144,000
Reach gap = 90,000 − 75,000 = 15,000 people

Result: Estimated unique reach is 75,000 people. At the same frequency, 24,000 more impressions would support the 90,000-person target.

Where can I find SEO frequency?

Many SEO platforms do not report person-level frequency. Use this as a scenario input based on available audience or panel data, and document the assumption.

Is reach the same as impressions?

No. Impressions count displays, while reach attempts to count distinct people exposed at least once.

Can estimated reach exceed impressions?

Not with a frequency of at least 1. A frequency below 1 is not meaningful for this model.

Does this calculator deduplicate devices?

No. It performs a mathematical estimate and cannot identify the same person across devices.

When is reach more useful than clicks?

Reach is useful for awareness planning. Clicks are more useful when the objective is traffic or downstream action.
