Tennis Rating Performance Score Estimator

The Tennis Rating Performance Score Estimator combines four match-related inputs into a 0–100 performance score: win percentage, first-serve points won, return points won, and an optional rating-progress measure. It is built for players or coaches who want one compact snapshot from a training block or recent match sample instead of reviewing every percentage separately.

The score is a weighted index, not an official UTR, NTRP, WTN, ATP, or WTA rating. It gives the greatest weight to match win rate, then balances serve and return effectiveness with recent rating movement. Because the underlying measures can come from different competition levels, the score is best used to compare the same player against their own prior periods. A rising score can highlight broad improvement, while the individual breakdown should still guide what to train next.

1. Enter the baseline
Enter your match win rate for the period you want to evaluate.

2. Add workload details
Enter the percentage of first-serve points won and return points won from the same sample.

3. Set intensity or context
Enter rating progress versus your chosen baseline; positive values mean improvement and negative values mean decline.

4. Review the output
Review the 0–100 score and the three weighted component contributions.

5. Use the result
Repeat the calculation with the same definitions and competition level to track your own trend over time.

The estimator uses a weighted index:

Rating score = clamp(50 + 2.5 × Rating progress %, 0, 100) Performance score = 0.40 × Win % + 0.25 × First-serve points won % + 0.20 × Return points won % + 0.15 × Rating score

All percentage inputs are entered as 0–100 values. The rating-progress transformation maps 0% progress to a neutral score of 50 and is capped at 0 and 100.

What the result means

The score summarizes the entered match outcomes, serve/return effectiveness, and recent rating direction on a 0–100 scale.

It is a custom tracking index, not a replacement for any official tennis rating or ranking system.

Given: 60% match wins, 68% first-serve points won, 42% return points won, and 4% rating progress.

Calculation: Rating score = 50 + (2.5 × 4) = 60. Performance = (0.40 × 60) + (0.25 × 68) + (0.20 × 42) + (0.15 × 60) = 58.4.

Result: 58.4/100. The score is most useful as a personal trend benchmark alongside the component values.

Is this score the same as UTR or NTRP?

No. It is a custom composite score for tracking the inputs on this page and should not be interpreted as an official tennis rating.

What match sample should I use?

Use a period large enough to represent current form and keep the competition level reasonably consistent. Mixing very different levels can make percentage comparisons misleading.

Why does win rate carry the most weight?

The model treats match outcome as the broadest performance signal, while still reserving substantial weight for serve and return effectiveness.

Can rating progress be negative?

Yes. Enter a negative percentage if your chosen rating measure has declined from the baseline period.

How should I improve the score?

Look at the component contributions rather than the total alone. The lowest underlying match statistic often provides the clearest training focus.
