The model applies one average workload to every planned video. Add separate time outside the calculator for activities not represented by preparation or editing.

What the result means

The result is the estimated hands-on preparation and editing time for the planned video batch.

Actual workload may vary by format complexity, revisions, filming logistics, and approval cycles.

Given: 20 videos, 8 source clips per video, 75 editing minutes, and 25 preparation minutes per video.

Calculation: Source clips = 20 × 8 = 160. Editing time = 20 × 75 ÷ 60 = 25 hours. Preparation time = 20 × 25 ÷ 60 = 8.33 hours. Total = 25 + 8.33 = 33.33 hours.

Result: Estimated production workload is 33.33 hours.

The plan also requires about 160 source clips before reshoots or unused takes.

Should filming time be included in preparation time?

Include it there only if your prep estimate is defined that way. Otherwise add filming time separately outside this model.

How should I estimate time for mixed video formats?

Calculate each format as a separate scenario or use a weighted average based on the planned format mix.

Does the result include revisions?

Only when revision time is already built into the average editing minutes per video.

Can I use this for a team?

Yes. Divide the total hours by realistic available hours per person, while accounting for role specialization and dependencies.

Why track source clips?

The clip estimate helps plan shooting volume, storage, file handling, and on-set time even though not every clip appears in the final videos.
