1. Measure finished floor area
Enter the attic floor area that will receive finished flooring.
2. Measure the insulated envelope
Add the sloped ceiling and wall surfaces that will be insulated and drywalled. Use actual surface area rather than horizontal floor projection.
3. Set flooring overage
Enter a waste percentage for floor cuts, pattern, and spare material.
4. Set insulation and drywall overage
Use separate allowances because batts, boards, rolls, and drywall sheets can generate different offcuts.
5. Review order coverage and sheet count
Convert the coverage figures to the package sizes of the products you plan to buy; drywall is already rounded up to whole 4 × 8 sheets.
