Class Revision Calculator

Estimate the revision time needed before an exam by combining the number of topics, average minutes per topic, and the number of review passes. This helps turn a broad revision goal into a measurable schedule.

A review pass means one complete cycle through all selected topics. Later passes may be faster than the first, while practice tests and weak areas may take longer, so the average time should reflect the type of revision you plan to do.

Total revision time = Topics × Minutes per topic × Review passes

Daily target divides total revision time by available days. Session count rounds total hours up to full 60-minute blocks.

What the result means

The result is the planned time for completing every selected topic across all review passes.

Add separate time for full practice exams, feedback review, and breaks if they are not included in minutes per topic.

Given: 18 topics, 35 minutes each, 2 passes, 7 days.

Calculation: 18 × 35 × 2 = 1,260 minutes = 21 hours; 21 ÷ 7 = 3 hours per day.

Result: Plan 21 hours total, averaging 3 hours daily.

Should every topic use the same time?

No. The calculator uses an average. Allocate extra time separately to weak or high-value topics.

Does a practice exam count as a topic?

It can, but a separate block is often clearer because full tests take longer.

Can later passes be shorter?

Yes. Use an average that reflects faster later reviews, or calculate each pass separately.

Are breaks included?

Only if you include them in minutes per topic. Otherwise add breaks to your calendar.

What if the daily target is too high?

Reduce scope, lower the number of passes, start earlier, or prioritize the most important topics.
