Email Conversion Calculator

This calculator measures how effectively email traffic completes a selected conversion action. It calculates conversion rate from tracked clicks and also shows conversion incidence across delivered emails, making it easier to separate inbox engagement from post-click performance.

The conversion action may be a purchase, registration, download, booking, or another event with a clear completion rule. Use the tool to compare landing pages, offers, audience segments, and campaigns while keeping the event definition and attribution method consistent.

Campaign inputs

Result
Percentage of unique email clicks that completed the selected action
Conversion rate per delivered email
Clicks without conversion
Conversions per 1,000 delivered
Clicks per conversion

1. Choose the conversion event
Use one clearly defined completion action.

2. Enter delivered emails
Add successful deliveries for the campaign.

3. Enter unique clicks
Use recipients who clicked at least one tracked link.

4. Enter attributed conversions
Count completed events credited to email under the same period and attribution rule.

5. Interpret both rates
Use click conversion rate for post-click effectiveness and delivered conversion rate for the full campaign funnel.

Email conversion rate = Attributed conversions ÷ Unique clicks × 100
Conversion rate per delivered email = Attributed conversions ÷ Emails delivered × 100
Conversions per 1,000 delivered = Attributed conversions ÷ Emails delivered × 1,000

Where:

  • Attributed conversions: completed selected actions credited to email
  • Unique clicks: recipients who clicked a tracked link
  • Emails delivered: successfully delivered messages

Assumptions: The calculator assumes each conversion is associated with a unique clicking recipient. Multi-purchase and multi-event analysis may require a different denominator.

What the result means

Percentage of unique email clicks that completed the selected action.

Use the result with consistent cost, attribution, and counting definitions when comparing campaigns.

Given:

  • Emails delivered: 150,000
  • Unique clicks: 7,500
  • Attributed conversions: 525

Calculation:
Click conversion rate = 525 ÷ 7,500 × 100 = 7.00%
Delivered conversion rate = 525 ÷ 150,000 × 100 = 0.35%
Conversions per 1,000 delivered = 3.50

Result: 7.00% click-to-conversion rate.

Interpretation: Seven percent of recipients who clicked completed the selected action, while the campaign generated 3.5 conversions per thousand delivered emails.

Which conversion rate should I report?

Use click-to-conversion rate when evaluating the post-click experience. Use delivered-to-conversion rate when reporting the end-to-end email campaign funnel.

Can one recipient have multiple conversions?

Yes in some businesses, but this calculator assumes conversions do not exceed unique clicks. Use transaction-based analysis when repeat purchases are intentionally counted.

How does attribution affect the rate?

Longer windows and view-through rules may credit more conversions. Apply the same model when comparing campaigns or periods.

Why can CTR rise while conversion rate falls?

A subject line or call to action may attract broader curiosity without matching the landing-page offer. Traffic quality and message continuity both influence post-click conversion.

Is email conversion rate the same as lead rate?

Lead rate is a conversion rate for a lead-generation event. Email conversion rate is broader and can use purchases, registrations, downloads, or other actions.
