Email Lead Calculator

This calculator estimates how many leads an email campaign produces and summarizes the lead-generation rate from delivered emails and clicks. It can also calculate cost per lead when campaign cost is provided.

Use it for gated content, demo requests, quote forms, webinar registrations, and other campaigns where the primary outcome is a lead rather than an immediate sale. The funnel view helps distinguish weak email engagement from weak landing-page conversion.

1. Enter delivered volume
Use emails that were successfully delivered.

2. Add unique clicks
Enter recipients who clicked through to the lead experience.

3. Enter attributed leads
Count completed lead actions credited to the campaign.

4. Add campaign cost
Include the cost basis needed for cost-per-lead analysis.

5. Inspect both conversion stages
Compare delivered-to-lead and click-to-lead rates to see where the funnel loses volume.

Lead rate per delivered email = Attributed leads ÷ Emails delivered × 100
Click-to-lead rate = Attributed leads ÷ Unique clicks × 100
Cost per lead = Campaign cost ÷ Attributed leads

Where:

  • Attributed leads: completed lead actions credited to email
  • Emails delivered: messages delivered successfully
  • Unique clicks: recipients who clicked
  • Campaign cost: selected cost basis

Assumptions: Leads should be deduplicated and defined consistently. This calculator reports observed leads rather than forecasting from a benchmark rate.

What the result means

Attributed leads generated by the campaign.

Use the result with consistent cost, attribution, and counting definitions when comparing campaigns.

Given:

  • Emails delivered: 95,000
  • Unique clicks: 3,800
  • Attributed leads: 570
  • Campaign cost: $3,135

Calculation:
Lead rate = 570 ÷ 95,000 × 100 = 0.60%
Click-to-lead rate = 570 ÷ 3,800 × 100 = 15.00%
Cost per lead = $3,135 ÷ 570 = $5.50

Result: 570 attributed leads.

Interpretation: The campaign converted six-tenths of one percent of delivered recipients into leads, at a cost of five dollars and fifty cents per lead.

What qualifies as a lead?

Define the required action before measuring, such as a completed form, demo request, or registration. Avoid mixing low-intent and high-intent actions in one total.

Why calculate both lead rates?

The delivered-email rate describes the entire campaign funnel, while the click-to-lead rate isolates landing-page and offer performance after a click.

Should duplicate submissions be removed?

Yes, when the objective is unique people or accounts. Duplicate forms can inflate lead volume and understate cost per lead.

How should lead quality be included?

This calculator measures quantity and cost, not qualification. Pair it with qualified-lead rate, pipeline value, or close rate.

What if leads exceed clicks?

That usually indicates mixed attribution, repeat form submissions, offline additions, or inconsistent counting. This implementation assumes an email lead follows a tracked click.
