What the result means

This is an operational mass ratio, not a crop nutrition recommendation or a measure of elemental nutrient recovery.

Given: 38 kg of nutrient product used, 2 kg discarded, and 1,600 kg of marketable harvest.

Calculation: Total nutrient input = 38 + 2 = 40 kg. Ratio = 40 ÷ 1,600 = 0.0250 kg/kg. Per 100 kg crop = 0.0250 × 100 = 2.50 kg.

Result: 0.0250 kg of nutrient product per kg of marketable crop.

Equivalently, the cycle produced 40 kg of marketable crop per kilogram of nutrient product accounted for.

Is a lower ratio always better?

A lower ratio indicates less nutrient-product mass per kilogram of marketable crop, but it does not by itself prove better plant nutrition, quality, yield stability, or economics. Compare systems only when their accounting boundaries and product concentrations are comparable.

Should unused stock solution be counted?

Count it only if it is actually consumed or discarded within the production boundary. Material carried forward to the next crop should normally remain outside the current cycle input.

Can I compare different fertilizer brands with this ratio?

Only cautiously. Products can have very different concentrations and formulations, so equal kilograms do not represent equal elemental nutrient supply.

What if there is no nutrient input?

The ratio becomes zero if harvest is positive and nutrient input is zero, but that scenario should be checked for data completeness before drawing conclusions.
