Monthly Calories Calculator

The Monthly Calories Calculator projects total calorie intake from an average daily amount and the exact number of days in the tracking period. It also shows a seven-day equivalent and the difference from a user-entered monthly calorie budget.

This is useful for summarizing food logs, planning a 28-, 30-, or 31-day period, or checking whether a daily average aligns with a monthly target. The tool performs arithmetic on the values supplied; it does not calculate an individual's calorie requirement or determine whether an intake level is appropriate. Food-log values can also differ because of portion estimates and label rounding.

Budget used

1. Enter the daily average
Use the average calorie intake from your log or plan.

2. Choose the period length
Enter the actual number of days, from 1 through 31.

3. Add a monthly budget
Use the total calorie amount you want to compare against.

4. Review the projection
The main result multiplies daily calories by the selected days.

5. Check budget alignment
A positive difference is above the entered budget; a negative difference is below it.

Monthly calories = Average daily calories × Days in period
Seven-day equivalent = Average daily calories × 7
Budget difference = Monthly calories − Monthly budget

Budget used (%) equals monthly calories divided by the entered budget, multiplied by 100. The calculation assumes the daily average is representative of every selected day.

What the result means

The main result estimates total calorie intake for the chosen month-length, with the budget comparison showing the arithmetic gap from the entered plan.

This projection does not account for day-to-day variation unless that variation is already reflected in the average daily input.

Given: 2,100 kcal per day for 30 days and a 63,000-kcal monthly budget.

Calculation: Monthly calories = 2,100 × 30 = 63,000 kcal. Seven-day equivalent = 2,100 × 7 = 14,700 kcal. Difference = 63,000 − 63,000 = 0.

Result: 63,000 kcal for the month, 14,700 kcal per seven-day equivalent, and 100% of the entered budget.

Should I always use 30 days?

No. Use the actual length of the period being reviewed, including a partial month when appropriate.

Can I use a planned daily average instead of a logged one?

Yes. The output will then be a plan projection rather than a summary of actual intake.

Why might the monthly total differ from my app?

Your app may sum individual days, while this calculator multiplies one average by the number of days. Rounding the average can create a difference.

Does the budget represent maintenance calories?

Only if that is how you defined it. The calculator does not derive or validate the budget.

How is this different from the Weekly Calories Calculator?

The monthly version accepts up to 31 days and compares the projection with a monthly budget, while the weekly tool focuses on a seven-day period.
