This approach is useful for budgeting grinding, milling, mixing, conveying, or other electrically powered feed activities when an average kWh-per-ton figure is available. It is intentionally equipment-neutral: motor efficiency, idle time, particle-size target, throughput, and maintenance condition are not modeled separately. What the result means
The result is the estimated electricity-related cost of processing the entered pig-feed tonnage under the selected energy assumptions.
Actual electricity bills can include demand charges, time-of-use rates, taxes, and fixed fees that are not fully represented by a single kWh price.
Interpretation The modeled feed process uses about 1,030.4 kWh and costs approximately $161.95 for the batch or period.
Does a higher kWh-per-ton value always mean inefficient equipment?
Not necessarily. Energy intensity can change with particle size, ingredient characteristics, throughput, equipment type, and operating conditions. Compare systems only when the process outputs are reasonably similar.
Can I enter a blended electricity rate?
Yes. A blended effective $/kWh rate can be useful for planning, especially when detailed tariff components are not being modeled separately.
How should I treat a monthly service charge?
If you can reasonably attribute part or all of it to the feed process, enter that dollar amount as fixed energy cost. Otherwise leave it out and interpret the result as variable electricity cost only.
Why does cost per ton include the fixed cost?
The calculator divides total cost, including the optional fixed amount, by processed tons. This shows an all-in modeled energy cost per ton for the entered volume.
Can this estimate total feed manufacturing cost?
No. It covers electricity-related cost only. Ingredients, labor, maintenance, depreciation, transport, and other costs require separate calculations.
