Remote Work Habit Calculator

Measure the consistency of a remote work habit over a chosen period. The calculator compares completed habit sessions with planned sessions and adjusts the score for partial sessions, making it useful for routines such as daily planning, exercise breaks, inbox processing, or end-of-day reviews.

The output helps distinguish a habit that is frequent but incomplete from one that is both consistent and fully performed. Use it to review behavior over time, not to evaluate a single unusually busy day.

1. Choose the review period
Use a week, month, or other period and keep every count within that same period.

2. Enter planned sessions
Count how many times the habit was supposed to occur.

3. Record full completions
Include only sessions that met your intended standard.

4. Record partial completions
Use this for shortened or incomplete sessions and assign a realistic credit percentage.

5. Read the score and gaps
Review effective completions, missed sessions, and the current streak together.

Effective completions = Full sessions + Partial sessions × Partial credit Habit score = Effective completions ÷ Planned sessions × 100 Missed sessions = Planned sessions − Full sessions − Partial sessions

Partial credit is converted from a percentage to a decimal. The score is capped at 100% so extra sessions do not hide missed planned sessions.

What the result means

The score summarizes how closely actual habit performance matched the plan after partial completion credit.

A streak adds context but does not change the consistency score.

Given: 20 planned sessions, 14 full sessions, 3 partial sessions, and 50% credit for each partial session.

Calculation: Effective completions = 14 + 3 × 0.50 = 15.5. Habit score = 15.5 ÷ 20 × 100 = 77.5%.

Result: The habit consistency score is 77.5%, with 3 completely missed sessions.

Interpretation: The routine is established but still has room for improved follow-through.

What should count as a full session?

Define the minimum standard before tracking. For example, a full planning session might require reviewing priorities and scheduling the top tasks.

Can the score be above 100%?

The displayed score is capped at 100%. Extra sessions are useful, but they do not erase planned sessions that were missed.

How should I set partial credit?

Base it on how much of the intended habit was completed. A half-length session may deserve 50%, while a nearly complete session may deserve more.

Does a long streak guarantee a high score?

No. A streak can be long within a recent period while earlier planned sessions were missed. The score and streak measure different aspects.

Can I compare different habits?

You can, but only when the completion standards are similarly demanding. A simple two-minute habit is not directly comparable to a one-hour routine.
