Strength Volume Performance Score Estimator

This estimator summarizes one repeated-load strength exercise as total volume and then normalizes that volume by body mass. The resulting score represents kilograms lifted across the entered reps for each kilogram of body mass, making it easier to compare sessions when body mass differs.

It is a volume score, not a direct measure of maximal strength, technique, power, or training quality. Exercises with different ranges of motion, machines, bars, assistance, tempo, or rep difficulty should not be compared as if their volume scores were interchangeable.

What the result means

The score is the session volume expressed as multiples of body mass; a higher score means more volume relative to body mass.

Compare the score mainly within the same exercise and similar execution conditions.

Given: 5 sets × 5 reps × 100 kg, body mass 80 kg.

Calculation: Total reps = 25. Volume = 5 × 5 × 100 = 2,500 kg. Score = 2,500 ÷ 80 = 31.25.

Result: 31.25 points, representing 31.25 kg of lifted volume per kilogram of body mass.

What exactly does the performance score measure?

It measures total lifted volume divided by body mass. It is a relative volume index, not a test of one-repetition maximum strength.

Can I compare a squat score with a bench-press score?

That is usually not useful because movement range, muscle involvement, and loading patterns differ. Compare the same exercise under similar conditions.

What if my sets use different weights or rep counts?

Calculate each block separately or use a more detailed log that sums set-by-set volume. This calculator assumes one repeated set-and-rep pattern at one load.

Does body mass make the score fair across athletes?

It provides a simple normalization, but it does not fully account for body composition, leverage, training age, or exercise-specific scaling.

Should warm-up sets be included?

Include only the sets you intentionally want represented in the volume score. For consistent tracking, use the same inclusion rule each session.
