The Strength Volume Race Prediction Calculator projects how long it would take to complete a target amount of lifting volume from a known reference session. Because strength training does not have a universal “race” format, this page treats the race as a timed volume challenge: you provide a completed workload and duration, then specify a target workload and an expected fatigue penalty.

This model is useful for gym events, team challenges, conditioning blocks built around total tonnage, or simple pacing experiments. The prediction assumes your reference session is representative and that the target uses broadly similar movements, loads, rest structure, and technique. It should not be used to predict formal powerlifting or weightlifting meet results; those are governed by successful attempts rather than tonnage completed per minute.

Assumptions: The model assumes volume can be paced approximately linearly before the user-supplied fatigue adjustment. It is a custom pacing model, not an official strength-sport prediction formula.

What the result means

The predicted time is the reference-rate estimate plus the percentage slowdown you chose for fatigue.

Use a reference session with similar exercises and rest structure; otherwise the volume-per-minute rate may not transfer.

Reference rate = 3,000 ÷ 30 = 100 kg/min
Base time = 5,000 ÷ 100 = 50 min

Interpretation: At the chosen 15% fatigue allowance, the 5,000 kg challenge is projected to take about 57 minutes 30 seconds.

What does “race” mean for this calculator?

It means a timed lifting-volume challenge, not an official running race or sanctioned strength-sport event. The model predicts time to complete a target tonnage.

How should I choose the fatigue penalty?

Use your own past sessions as the guide. If the target is only slightly larger than the reference, a small penalty may be reasonable; a much longer challenge generally warrants a larger allowance.

Can I compare kilograms and pounds?

Yes if every volume value uses the same unit. The displayed labels use kilograms, so convert pound-based volume before entering it for a consistent result.

Why can two athletes with the same volume have different times?

Exercise selection, load per rep, rest periods, setup time, and conditioning all affect pace. Total volume alone does not capture those differences.

Can this predict a powerlifting meet total?

No. A meet total comes from the best successful squat, bench press, and deadlift attempts, not from tonnage completed over time.
