Enter the number of inhabitants, the food amount per inhabitant per day, the misting or hydration water used per inhabitant per day, and a daily substrate or consumable allowance. The calculator totals each resource so you can plan routine stock and maintenance supplies.

The tool is designed for husbandry planning after appropriate care targets have already been established for the species and enclosure. It does not decide how much a reptile, amphibian, invertebrate, or other terrarium inhabitant should eat or how much humidity it requires. Actual needs can vary with species, age, body size, temperature, season, enclosure ventilation, substrate, live plants, and the exact feeding or misting method.

All rates are user-provided planning assumptions. The calculator does not convert between feeding frequency patterns, prey counts, body-weight percentages, or humidity targets.

What the result means

The main result is the total food quantity per day implied by the number of inhabitants and the per-inhabitant food target you entered.

Species-specific feeding, hydration, humidity, and substrate requirements should be established separately; this tool only scales known targets.

Given: 4 inhabitants, 6 g of food each per day, 35 mL of water each per day, 12 g of other consumables per day, and a 14-day plan.

Calculation: Daily food = 4 × 6 = 24 g. Daily water = 4 × 35 = 140 mL. Period food = 24 × 14 = 336 g. Period water = 140 × 14 = 1,960 mL.

Result: Plan for 24 g of food and 140 mL of misting or hydration water per day under these entered assumptions.

Does this tool determine the correct feeding amount?

No. Food per inhabitant is an input. Use a species- and life-stage-appropriate husbandry source to establish feeding quantity and frequency before using the calculator for supply planning.

What if the animals are fed only a few times per week?

Convert your established schedule into an average daily amount only if that is useful for inventory planning. Do not interpret the daily average as a recommendation to change the actual feeding schedule.

Why is water entered per inhabitant?

It provides a simple way to scale a user-defined budget across a group. For many terrariums, misting depends more on enclosure conditions than animal count, so you can instead divide your known enclosure-level daily water use by the inhabitant count before entering it.

Can I leave substrate and consumables at zero?

Yes. That field is optional in practical use and can be zero when you only want food and water totals.

Should different species share one calculation?

Only if the same assumptions genuinely apply to them. Otherwise, calculate each species or care group separately and add the supply totals afterward.
