The calculation assumes the percentage entered is the labeled mass fraction for the same nutrient basis as the target recommendation.

What the result means

The main result is the total weight of fertilizer product needed to supply the entered nutrient amount across the vineyard area.

Nutrient recommendations and fertilizer labels can use different nutrient forms or conventions. Match the recommendation and product analysis before calculating.

Given: 18 acres, a target of 35 lb nutrient/acre, and a fertilizer containing 21% of that nutrient.

Calculation: 18 × 35 = 630 lb nutrient. 21% ÷ 100 = 0.21. 630 ÷ 0.21 = 3,000 lb product.

Result: 3,000 lb of fertilizer product, equal to 166.67 lb/acre.

This converts a known nutrient target into product weight; it does not establish the target rate itself.

What percentage should I enter from the fertilizer label?

Enter the percentage for the nutrient that matches your target rate. Make sure the recommendation and label use the same nutrient basis before comparing them.

What if the fertilizer contains more than one nutrient?

Run the calculation for the nutrient that controls the application rate, then review how much of the other nutrients that product would also supply.

Can I enter a zero nutrient rate?

Yes. A target rate of zero produces a zero product requirement. The product nutrient percentage must remain greater than zero to avoid division by zero.

Does this calculator account for application efficiency?

No. It calculates product required from the stated nutrient rate and product analysis. If your agronomic recommendation already includes expected losses or efficiency, use that recommended rate.

Can this replace a soil or tissue test recommendation?

No. It only converts an existing nutrient target into fertilizer product quantity. Nutrient need should be established from appropriate agronomic information and local guidance.
