Virtual Classroom Completion Forecast Estimator
Forecast how many enrolled learners are likely to complete a virtual classroom program by combining enrollment with an expected completion rate. Program managers can use the estimate for certificate volumes, follow-up staffing, reporting targets, and comparisons between cohorts. A separate planned attendance factor lets you make the forecast more conservative when completion depends on learners participating in required live sessions.
This is a scenario model rather than a prediction of individual behavior. Completion definitions, attendance requirements, and support practices vary by program, so the inputs should reflect the rules and evidence used by your organization.

Forecast completions = Enrolled learners × (Attendance % ÷ 100) × (Completion among qualifiers % ÷ 100)
The overall forecast completion rate is the product of the two percentage assumptions.
What the result means
The result estimates how many enrolled learners will satisfy both the modeled attendance condition and the remaining completion requirements.
If live attendance is not a completion requirement in your program, set attendance to 100% and use the completion-rate input as the primary assumption.
Given: 500 enrolled learners, 90% expected required-session attendance, and 84% completion among attendance-qualified learners.
Calculation: Attendance-qualified learners = 500 × 0.90 = 450. Forecast completions = 450 × 0.84 = 378.
Result: About 378 learners are forecast to complete, an overall rate of 75.6%.
The remaining 122 learners are outside the forecast completion count under these assumptions.
Why are there two percentage inputs?
They model two different stages: meeting the attendance condition and completing after that condition is met. Keeping them separate makes the assumptions easier to adjust.
What if attendance is not required for completion?
Set the attendance input to 100%. The forecast will then depend only on enrollment and the completion-rate assumption.
Can I use last cohort’s rates?
Yes, if the new cohort and delivery conditions are reasonably comparable. Adjust the inputs when scheduling, learner mix, course design, or support changes materially.
Does the result have to be a whole learner?
The calculation may produce a fraction, but the displayed forecast is rounded for planning. Treat nearby whole-number results as estimates rather than exact outcomes.
How is this different from engagement score?
Completion forecast estimates the number expected to finish. Engagement score combines participation indicators to summarize how actively learners are taking part.
