Weekly walking calories = MET × 3.5 × weight ÷ 200 × minutes per walk × walks per week.

Estimated weekly weight change = (walking calories − additional daily calorie balance × 7) ÷ 7,700 kcal/kg.

What the result means

A positive displayed change represents estimated weight loss under the model; a negative value represents gain.

The 7,700 kcal/kg conversion is a planning approximation and actual change often slows or fluctuates.

Given: 80 kg, 40 minutes, 5 days/week, moderate 3.5 MET, no diet adjustment.

Calculation: Weekly walking calories = 3.5 × 3.5 × 80 ÷ 200 × 40 × 5 = 980 kcal. Weekly change = 980 ÷ 7,700 = 0.127 kg.

Result: Four-week projection ≈ 0.51 kg.

Why is the projection smaller than expected?

Walking is valuable, but its calorie contribution may be modest relative to total daily energy intake.

What does a negative result mean?

It means the entered calorie-balance scenario exceeds the estimated walking expenditure and projects weight gain.

Should I enter calories eaten or only the change?

Enter only the daily change relative to your current baseline, not total food intake.

Will the same rate continue for months?

Not necessarily. Body weight, appetite, and activity behavior can change over time.

Can this replace a nutrition plan?

No. It is a simplified energy-balance scenario and does not assess nutrient needs or medical considerations.
