The Weekly Hydration Calculator converts an average daily fluid intake into a total for the selected number of tracked days and compares it with a user-entered daily target. It reports the weekly volume, average intake, completion percentage, and surplus or deficit relative to that target.
The calculator is useful for reviewing a consistent log or planning how much beverage volume to prepare. It accepts liters or fluid ounces but does not determine an individual's physiological requirement. Fluid needs can vary with body size, climate, activity, pregnancy, illness, medications, and food moisture, so the result should be treated as a recordkeeping comparison rather than medical guidance.

Surplus or deficit—
1. Choose one unit Select liters or US fluid ounces and keep intake and target in that unit.
2. Enter average intake Use the mean amount consumed on each tracked day.
3. Set tracked days Choose how many days the average represents.
4. Add a comparison target Enter your own daily target in the same unit.
5. Review the difference The calculator compares actual volume with the target total for only the selected days.
Tracked total = Average daily intake × Tracked days Target total = Daily target × Tracked days Completion (%) = Tracked total ÷ Target total × 100
Surplus or deficit equals tracked total minus target total. The calculator does not convert between units because both inputs are entered in the selected unit.
What the result means
The main result is the fluid volume recorded across the selected days; the percentage and difference show how that total compares with the entered target.
Beverage volume is not identical to total water intake because foods also contribute water, and individual needs differ.
Given: Average intake of 2.2 liters per day for 7 days and a target of 2.5 liters per day.
Calculation: Tracked total = 2.2 × 7 = 15.4 L. Target total = 2.5 × 7 = 17.5 L. Completion = 15.4 ÷ 17.5 × 100 = 88%. Difference = 15.4 − 17.5 = −2.1 L.
Result: 15.4 L total, 88% of the entered target, and a 2.1 L deficit for the tracked week.
Does coffee count toward fluid intake?
This calculator can include any beverages you choose to count, but keep your logging definition consistent from day to day.
Can I enter ounces for intake and liters for the target?
No. Both values must use the single unit selected in the calculator.
What if I tracked fewer than seven days?
Set the tracked-days field to the number of days represented. The target comparison will use that same count.
Does a deficit mean I am dehydrated?
No. It only means the logged total was below the target you entered and is not a clinical assessment.
Why might beverage intake differ from total water intake?
Foods contain water, and metabolism also contributes a small amount. Beverage logs therefore do not capture every source of body water.
