1. Enter the finished floor area
Measure the basement area that will receive the selected flooring. Exclude unfinished mechanical or storage spaces if they use different finishes.
2. Enter perimeter and wall height
Use the length of finished perimeter walls and the finished wall height to estimate wall surface area.
3. Choose flooring and drywall waste
Set separate overage percentages for cuts and damaged pieces. More complex layouts may need more overage.
4. Select stud spacing
Choose the on-center spacing used for the perimeter framing estimate. Confirm the actual framing design and local requirements separately.
5. Review and round for purchasing
The calculator rounds drywall sheets and studs up to whole units. Convert flooring square footage to full boxes based on product coverage.
