Assumptions: The calculation applies one percentage to the full net footing volume. It does not model localized over-excavation or variable footing geometry.

What the result means

The total is the net footing quantity plus the selected percentage allowance.

If over-excavation is measured directly, adding its actual volume may be more accurate than increasing the entire footing quantity by one percentage.

Interpretation
An 8% allowance on the net quantity adds 1.12 yd³; because the percentage is based on net volume, that addition is 7.41% of the final total.

Why is the allowance share of total lower than the entered waste percentage?

The entered percentage is calculated against net volume. Once the extra quantity is added, that same extra volume becomes a smaller percentage of the larger final total.

Can I use an allowance above 10%?

The calculator allows it, but the value should come from project conditions and estimating judgment rather than a generic rule.

Should measured over-excavation be included in net volume or waste?

If you know the extra excavation volume, adding it directly to the concrete takeoff can be more transparent. The waste percentage is better for uncertain or distributed allowance.

Does this include spillage and leftover concrete?

Only to the extent that your selected allowance is intended to cover those losses. The calculator does not break waste into causes.

How is this tool different from the footing material requirements estimator?
