Concrete Slab Material Requirements Estimator

Interpretation
The rectangular slab needs about 5.71 yd³ under these assumptions, equivalent to 257 bags at 0.60 ft³ yield each.

Why is slab thickness entered in inches?

Slab thickness is commonly specified in inches while plan dimensions are often measured in feet. The calculator converts thickness to feet before multiplying dimensions.

Should I always add the same waste percentage?

No. Waste depends on geometry, delivery method, subgrade accuracy, crew practices, and ordering constraints. Enter an allowance appropriate to the actual job rather than relying on a universal value.

Does this include thickened slab edges?

No. The calculation assumes uniform thickness across the full rectangle. Measure thickened edges or integral beams as additional volumes and add them separately.

Why is the bag count rounded up?

Partial bags generally cannot be purchased or relied on as complete material units. The displayed estimate rounds up to the next whole bag after applying the selected bag yield.

Can I use this result for ready-mix and bagged concrete?

Yes for basic volume planning. Use the cubic-yard result for ready-mix and the bag count only when the entered bag yield matches the product you plan to use.
