1. Enter the current queue
Count requests that are waiting for an initial or next service slot under the definition you use operationally.
2. Add daily demand
Enter the average number of new requests joining that queue on an operating day.
3. Enter daily service capacity
Use the number of requests the team can move through the relevant stage each operating day.
4. Set operating days
This is used to show weekly demand and capacity; the main wait result is expressed in operating days.
5. Check whether the queue is stable
A positive daily backlog change means demand exceeds capacity and waits are likely to grow unless conditions change.
