Room subtotal = Nightly rate × Rooms × Nights
Estimated tax = Room subtotal × Tax rate ÷ 100
Total hotel cost = Room subtotal + Estimated tax + Shared fees
Cost per guest = Total hotel cost ÷ Guests

What the result means

The main result is each guest’s equal share of the complete lodging estimate.

Taxable fees vary by property and location. This model applies the tax rate only to the room subtotal.

Given: Two rooms at $180 per night for four nights, 12% tax, $160 in shared fees, and five guests.

Calculation: Room subtotal = $180 × 2 × 4 = $1,440. Tax = $1,440 × 12% = $172.80. Total = $1,440 + $172.80 + $160 = $1,772.80. Per guest = $1,772.80 ÷ 5 = $354.56.

Result: Each guest’s equal share is $354.56.

Should children be counted as full guests?

Count each person according to the group’s chosen sharing rule. The calculator does not automatically assign reduced shares by age.

Where do resort fees go?

Enter mandatory shared resort, cleaning, or destination fees in the shared property fees field.

What if one guest stays fewer nights?

An equal split may be unfair in that case. Calculate the partial-stay guest’s nights separately, then divide the remaining amount among the full-stay guests.

Why might the final hotel bill differ?

Properties may tax fees, place temporary holds, charge parking, or add incidentals. Use the final folio for settlement when available.
